Visit botanical gardens with indigenous plants and trees, once used by Cherokee medicine men and craftsmen. "Cherokee Heritage Days" occur on the second Saturday of every month. Baskets woven from river cane and masks carved from buckeye are on display. Hear stories from authentic Cherokees. The Museum store allows you to take home a bit of the experience. The Museum is an opportunity for families to learn about the Cherokee people, their home, and their stories. Kevin Gover, director of the National Museum of the American Indian, named the Museum one of the top ten native sites east of the Mississippi.

“Cherokee Lodge provides simple, clean accommodation ideally situated for exploring the Great Smoky Mountains, away from Gatlinburg's bustle. While lacking extensive amenities and showing a few signs of wear, its friendly staff and comfortable rooms make it a practical choice. I think it is a solid base for day trips, focusing on value and location.”
