The suites at the Cherokee Lodge Motel feature 2 Queen Size Beds with new Serta Mattresses, a table, and two chairs. The Museum of the Cherokee Indian tells the story of the Cherokee people using artifacts, artwork, computer graphics, and interactive features. See a path carved in the earth, where a Tribal Elder teaches a younger woman the art of beadwork. The "Bat Creek Stone," found in a Cherokee mound in Tennessee, is on display. Visit botanical gardens with indigenous plants and trees, once used by Cherokee medicine men and craftsmen. "Cherokee Heritage Days" occur on the second Saturday of every month. Baskets woven from river cane and masks carved from buckeye are on display. Hear stories from authentic Cherokees. The Museum store allows you to take home a bit of the experience. The Museum is an opportunity for families to learn about the Cherokee people, their home, and their stories. Three hundred thousand fish have been stocked in the emerald waters that run through Cherokee. The area is host to over 200 species of birds and six trails listed in the North Carolina Birding Trails Guide. Activities enjoyed onsite or nearby include fishing, hiking, and recreational tubing.
